Dear friends, Water Ski fanatics,
The International Viersel Diamond Waterski Race is known all over the world. One thing is as hard as a Diamond: the racers love to compete in Viersel. Competing in the Diamond Race is like competing in the Olympics. Winning that same race is … the End.
We want you to compete in that race. Make it once again your race !!! As you know, we do our best to organise this “Jewel”. And a jewel you can win. The Diamond Award 2008 will be given to the winner of Formula 1 Men’s Racing. The other “best three” will be rewarded with a special golden hanger as usual. You know what to expect from the Organisation of the Diamond Race, so do not hesitate and book your best Racing weekend of the year. And, as this is the 24rd edition of our Race, we plan to make a very special edition of it. So, be there!

This 24rd Diamond Race will give you all the Racing-excitement you are looking for. As all of you know, the Diamond Race is a very special race. Everybody stands a chance to win it. But in the end…only the “best” gets the Award. So, be prepared for a trip through hell and back.
We hope that all the races will be hard and exciting. As usual this will result in a fair and sportive outcome. Not every team can leave with the special “Diamond-trophy” but we are convinced that every participant will look upon his or her achievement with con¬tent after the races will be over. Participating is sometimes better than winning?
We expect you all at the Viersel Diamond Race 2008 on June 28 and 29 of this year.

 Dear friends,
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 2008 Racing European Championships to be held at Ramsgate from 5th July to 12th July 2008.
The event promises to be an exciting addition to the calendar of events being held in the UK this year and with the excellent support provided by Thanet District Council and a very strong organising committee working behind the scenes we look forward to a very exciting display.

Waterskiracing - WK waterski komt naar ons (artikel uit VAREN) |
| | Volgend jaar wordt Vlaanderen even het epicentrum van de waterski. Van 19 t.e.m. 26 juli 2009 vinden dan in ons land namelijk de 16de wereldkampioen-schappen van deze watersport plaats. Die eer viel ons al eens te beurt in 1995, het zal dus 14 jaar geleden zijn dat het hele circus van de ISWF (International Waterski Federation) naar hier afzakte. De ervaring die de Belgische poot van die organisatie heeft opgedaan met het organiseren van de wereldbefaamde jaarlijkse Diamond Race, is niet vreemd aan de keuze voor België. Er zijn wedstrijden voorzien op vier verschillende data: op zondag 19 juli 2009 is er de openingswedstrijd in de haven van Gent. Op dinsdag 21 juli 2009 wordt de 2de manche gevaren op het Albertkanaal in Genk, op vrijdag 24 juli 2009 gaat de 3de manche dan van start in Antwerpen (ov) en ‘s zondags 26 juli 2009 is het de 4de manche en grote finale in Viersel (Zandhoven). Daar, op het bekende parcours van de Viersel Diamond Race, kunnen onze deelnemers dus allicht van een voordeeltje genieten. | En die deelnemers zijn niet van de minste: onze eigen Dimitri Bertels, Kenny Weccks, Kelly Nulens, Dave Van Steelant, Lena Feringa, Vicky Leysen, Christel Magdeleyns, Dylan de Weert en Robin Mariën, maar ook internationale namen met wereldfaam als regerend wereldkampioenen Jason Walsmley en Ann Proctor. Het is te voorzien dat veel skiërs al op 28 en 29 juni 2008 naar de Diamond Race in Viersel zullen afzakken als voorbereiding. Dat onze wateren racers als de huidige vice-wereldkampioenen Todd Haig en Kim Lumley ook wel liggen, blijkt uit hun weerkerend succes in de Diamond Race. In totaal zullen meer dan 30 deelnemers uit een twaalftal landen op post zijn in 2009. Een opsteker voor onze waterskisport! Volgens coördinatrice Vera Van den Bossche is er echter nog veel werk aan de winkel: “Onze sport is niet uitgebreid aanwezig in de media, en daarom blijft het moeilijk om voldoende sponsors aan te trekken. Geïnteresseerden mogen zich altijd melden.” Er komt ook een website van het gebeuren waar u de vorderingen kunt volgen. En via Varen blijft u natuurlijk ook op de hoogte |
